We started out close to home at our site in Silverburn Retail Development, Pollock. It was a successful start to the week with 120 site operatives visiting the bus.
Representing Barr on the bus was Assistant MD Gordon Eccleston, Unit Directors Paul Griffen and Aiden Teague, Chief Engineer Paul McCreadie, Health and Safety Manager Martin Oldfield and Health and Safety Advisor Amanda Symington.
We were also joined by Billy Auld of Marigold, Alistair Inglis of Bacou-Dalloz, Kenny Mennie of Speedy Hire and Louse Arthur of Greenham.
The information and presentations have been well received on site and a few interesting comments have been made with regards to safety in general. These ideas will be taken into account and implemented on site.
Already one of the main issues which has arisen from this first day is the lack of experience in harness inspection and choosing the correct harness.
The reponse to mandatory glove wearing has been positive and marigold has even supplied samples to all the trades on site.
Each day we held a competition for the best safety improvement suggestion on site. The prize winners for Day One were:
