McLaughlin & Harvey are one of the leading Building and Civil Engineering Contractors operating throughout the UK and Ireland. We are seeking to recruit a Finance Assistant to join the team within Barr Environmental Limited.

Barr Environmental Limited, part of the McLaughlin & Harvey Group, is a leading waste management company operating throughout various locations in the west of Scotland.

Responsibilities

You will be competent in dealing with numbers, have good attention to detail and can work to deadlines. You will assist the Company Accountant and the wider team to produce quality information, timely and to a high degree of accuracy.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing sales data and processing weekly sales invoices.
  • Debtor collection and key contact to deal with customer queries.
  • Process purchase invoices.
  • Process purchase orders.
  • Compile monthly customer reports.
  • Monthly reconciliations.
  • Main point of contact for weighbridge site staff to assist in ad hoc queries.
  • Reconciliation of payments.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Higher level qualification.

Desirable 

  • HNC/HND in Accounts or Business Administration.
  • Driving Licence.

Experience

Essential

  • Numerate.
  • Capable of processing high volume data, accurately and to deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with suppliers, customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work under pressure, on own initiative and constantly seeking to improve.
  • Strong administrative and IT skills.

Desirable 

  • Previous experience of working within a finance department.
