Barr has recently joined the SWITCH forum. SWITCH (Scottish Waste Industry Training, Competency, Health & Safety) is a multi-partnership forum made up of organisations across the resource management industry that mainly focuses on Health & Safety and Education, Training and Competence.
This Scottish group was established back in 2014 and is part of the CIWM (Chartered Institute of Waste Management) along with the Scottish Government, local authorities and private sector companies from the industry, all on a voluntary basis. The aim of the forum is to provide leadership by working collectively to improve the standards of Health & Safety, Training, Learning, Development and Technical Competence.
Gordon Whiteford, our Senior Operations Manager, is now a fully chartered member of CIWM. Gordon will represent Barr Environmental Limited at the forum in order to help raise standards of the above mentioned developments. Information on these forums will also be shared amongst staff and implemented where available to strive for best practise throughout our sites.
We, at Barr, strive to improve all standards within the industry, in order to encourage safe and appealing career opportunities in the Scottish waste and resource management industry.
