Job description

Barr Environmental Limited part of the McLaughlin & Harvey Group is a leading waste management company operating throughout various locations in the west of Scotland. An opportunity has arisen within our team and we are seeking to recruit a Financial Assistant reporting directly to the Company Accountant.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be competent in dealing with numbers, have excellent attention to detail and can work to deadlines. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a fast paced and high-volume finance department. Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing sales data and processing weekly sales invoices
  • Debtor collection and key contact to deal with customer queries
  • Process purchase invoices
  • Process purchase orders
  • Compile monthly reports
  • Monthly reconciliations
  • Main point of contact for weighbridge site staff to assist in adhoc queries
  • Reconciliation of payments
  • Cashflows

Qualifications

Desirable

  • HNC/HND in Accounts or Business Administration
  • Proven track record in similar role
  • Driving Licence

Experience

Skills required:

  • High level of numeracy with strong commercial acumen demonstrated within previous roles
  • Problem solving, prioritising and working to deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with suppliers, customers and colleagues of all levels
  • Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
  • Strong administrative and IT skills using all MS Office programmes essential
