Barr Environmental Limited has been operating since 1996 and prides itself in providing high quality, fully integrated Waste Management services across the West of Scotland. Over the past 25 years, we have built up our reliable reputation as a leading, local provider of comprehensive, compliant and effective Waste Management solutions. With our Skip Hire, specialised materials recovery processes and fully licenced disposal facilities, Barr Environmental are fully equipped to provide end to end solutions for our public and private sector customers from our 5 locations including Skip Hire, civic amenity and recycling facilities at Heathfield in South Ayrshire, Waste Transfer Station at Southook in East Ayrshire, civic amenity, recycling and residual disposal at Garlaff, also in East Ayrshire and recycling and residual waste disposal at Auchencarroch in West Dunbartonshire. 

It is at this milestone for Barr Environmental Limited, celebrating 25 years of sustainably managing waste from local homes and businesses, that we are excited to be looking forward to continuing to serve our customers over the coming decades in the safest and most compliant way with our proposed Killoch Energy Recovery Park on the site of our current Head office at Killoch, near Ochiltree in East Ayrshire. This facility will provide a reliable solution for disposal of Ayrshire’s waste after the 2025 Landfill Ban of less than 5% of non-recyclable residual waste and the complete ban on biodegradable household waste to landfill by 2025, as well as being a sustainable source of low carbon energy. At the moment, we are in the public consultation stage of the proposal. 

As Barr Environmental mark this landmark anniversary, we would like to first of all thank all staff past and present for all their hard work and dedication to get the business to where it is today. We would also like to thank all of our customers, suppliers, contractors, businesses and regulatory associates who have been integral to our past success and who we hope will continue to be an important part of our future going forward.
